Classes

Attitude Dance Academy offers many styles of dance and ages ranging from three years to adults. Classes include creative dance, ballet, tap, jazz/funk, hip hop, adult tap and performing team.

Creative dance – aimed for young children who love to move. This class allows children to learn movement through dance with the use of music, props and imagination with a fun element.

Tap – develops rhythm, coordination and intricate foot work. Our tap involves both technical work and freestyle tap movements.

Jazz/Funk – a fun way to move your body to modern music, while learning technique and building strength. Funk is fast, fun and hip.

Tinies Jazzperfect for toddlers keen to learn the basics of this fun jazz style.

Ballet – the foundation of all dance styles. It is a strict form of dance with strong technique and discipline, while moving lyrical and graceful to music. A wonderful way to feel like a princess. Grade 3 ballet and up are required to attend two lessons per week in preparation for RAD examinations.

Hip hop  – it's cool, it's groovy, it's a whole lot of fun. Learn the moves featured in all the latest music videos.

• Open tap – it’s fun for anyone who would like to give it a go. Teens and adults welcome.

Performing team – students learn a variety of dance styles throughout the year and perform in front of an audience four times during the year at:

• Bardon Fete – May
• Wynnum Eisteddfod – end of April
• Brisbane Eisteddfod – end of May
• Oakleigh Fete – August

Students are from 8 years and up and must do two styles of dance to participate, one of which is ballet. The students must attend all lessons/extra rehearsals and perform in all events.

Costumes are part of being in the Performing Team. The quality of the costume is high and are an expense. They are worn in both esteddfods and sometime the following year. As the Performing Team is a dedicated group of performers the students compete against other dance schools around Brisbane in the eisteddfods. Your child will require time off from school to compete depending when their section is scheduled. The times and dates are set by the eisteddfod committees and are not negotiable.

The performing team requires total commitment by each member for the success of the team.

The performing team is a lot of fun and gives the students opportunities to dance out of their normal dance classes.  It helps achieve movements and encourages self-esteem and confidence.

It is a wonderful experience so if you feel totally committed and would like to be considered, please see Miss Justine.
